For someone who enjoys surfing, having a beachfront house in one of the best surfing spots in Los Cabos is a true privilege. This is the case with Casa Boyle, where it was essential to acknowledge the Sea of Cortez as a key element in the design.

From the entrance of the house, there is always a clear view of the sea. This imaginary straight line organizes all the spaces in the house and serves as a gathering point. The volumes that make up the house are located on either side of this line and are connected by a bridge.

LIVING OUTDOORS
For our team, it is clear that in such a location, social spaces must be in contact with the outdoors. In the case of Casa Boyle, we decided that all of them should be on terraces or in interior spaces that could be completely opened to the outside. To complete the architectural program, a pool is integrated as a visual focal point and a firepit is placed at the beachfront. In addition to surrounding the house with gardens, we decided that all rooftops would be used as terraces. This way, you can enjoy unparalleled views of the sea.
BIOCLIMATIC INTEGRATION
As passive strategies to withstand the harsh climate of the area, we chose to build with earth walls because this material, due to its high thermal mass, can delay the entry of heat during the day, keeping the spaces cool, and release it during the night, regulating the lower temperatures at that time. Additionally, we aimed for all spaces to have cross ventilation. This way, the use of air conditioning is reduced throughout the year.
